Education Officials in Northern Bahr El Ghazal state have opened a lawsuit against a parent for fighting with teachers at Maper East primary school on Friday.
“This parent is given a lawsuit because he stormed the school with harsh behaviors,” Director General of the state ministry of Education, Santino Bol Akot Nguel, said.
An eyewitness, who asked not to be disclosed, said the parent became infuriated after his daughter convulsed for an hour when the teachers attempted to discipline her.
On hearing the news, the accused man rode on a motorcycle to the school and started beating up teachers.
The eyewitness alleged that teachers and pupils descended on the man and beat him thoroughly.
However, the Director General said the teachers were only trying to discipline the girl and the man was called up by his wife about the incident which resulted in the convulsion of his daughter.
“We don’t know whether that condition of his daughter is something long-term. We will go and find out what the law says about such incidents,” he stated.
Akot added that school properties such as windows were broken and injuries so that is why he has to answer those charges.
He said that the brawl resulted into damages on school property and also other pupils sustained injuries.
The Director General warned parents against misbehaving towards teachers who sacrifice their time to volunteer to serve.
An attempt by No.1 Citizen Daily Newspaper to reach out to the accused parent for comments was not successful.
