SSFA declares Aweil East Football Association independent

By Ngor Deng Matem

South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) has announced the independence of the Aweil East Local Football Association from the Northern Bahr El Ghazal State (NBGs) football governing body.

Previously, Aweil East local football activities were run under the NBGS Football Association based in Aweil town.

The approval was confirmed by the spokesperson of the SSFA, Mr. Albino Kuek Deng after the General Assembly conference conducted in Aweil town.

“Aweil East, of course, was confirmed. These newly co-opted Associations will be accessed by a committee that will be formed at the next general Assembly meeting, and they will then be blessed and incorporated into the statute after consultation with FIFA,” Kuek affirmed.

Responding to the good news, the Chairman of the Aweil East Local Football Association, Garang Kuek Johnson, appreciated the SSFA leadership.

“We are happy to be an independent Association. We thank the President of the South Sudan Football Association and his entire leadership for considering our concerns,” Garang said.

He also commended the football clubs and players in Aweil East County, saying it was their contributions towards sport building that made “us reach this day.”

“Aweil East Football Association is for peace and development, and with this, we are now mobilizing resources from the well-wishers to build the football pitch fence in the county”.

This, according to Garang, will help them and many generations to come if they achieve the project.

“There are already some contributions made by the people of goodwill, and we still encourage more support so that we can start the fence construction initiative,” he announced.
