Northern Bahr El Ghazal state ministry of education is facing challenges of increase in number of learners amidst limited space.
The state minister of education, Mr. Santino Bol Akok told the governor in a meeting convened to assess performance of the sector.
Akok said that the state is faced with a lot of problems such as high increase of enrolment in schools due to influx of returnees and lack of good structures for the learners.
The minister added that the other challenge includes lack of qualified teachers to handle the high enrollment.
Akok, who stressed the importance of education in the state, calls for support from the government and development partners.
The state governor, Tong Aken Ngor had convened the meeting with education authorities headed by the minister, on the progress of the sector in the state.
“I invited you here to make consultation on educational matters so that we identify the challenges and the way forward. Education is our key priority,” governor Ngor said.
The governor expressed gratitude for improvements noted in the ministry and called for hard work to do more.
The meeting was attended by some state cabinet ministers, advisors, counties commissioners to crosscheck on the progress of the education sector.
