By Ngor Deng Matem

Police in Northern Bahr El Ghazal State (NBGs) are searching for a teacher who has been accused of raping a female student.

The police say four other suspects in connection with the case have already been arrested for questioning.

NBG state police spokesperson, Captain Guot Guot Akol told No. 1 Citizen Daily Newspaper that the 17-year-old girl, a student at Corner Vision Academy, reported the case to her parents, who later forwarded the issue to the school administration.

“The father of the girl reported the issue to the school administration, and the school administration reported it to us,” Captain Guot Guot stated.

According to him, they (the police) took the initiative to arrest the suspects, but the prime suspect was not found.

“So we arrested his colleagues who stay with him and a teacher who gave the suspect his ghetto house to rape the student,” Captain Guot continued.

The girl confessed that the teacher took her to the ghetto house two Sundays ago and raped her.

“We inform the airport authorities and CID officers at the exit routes within the state to thoroughly check on foreigners exiting,” the police spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, NBGs Governor, Tong Akeen condemned the incident and called on the public to help protect the girl child from such harmful practices as rape, forced, and early marriages.
