Youth Union suspends Chairperson

By Ngor Deng Matem

Northern Bahr El Ghazal State Youth Union Chairperson has been slapped with a three-month suspension from running the state youth affairs.

This suspension was passed by the NBGs Youth Union Council against their chairperson, Tito Awen Bol.

According to letter signed by the speaker of the council, Santino Thiep Arou, the suspension was based on the state youth union constitution, article 18 (sub-article 9) (f).

“Tito Awen, NBG’s youth union chairperson, is being suspended because of gross misconduct and administrative, moral, and financial corruption,” the letter partly read.

However, the fate of the chairperson, whether to be reinstated or indefinitely suspended, is going to be tabled in a congress meeting.

But the speaker of the Youth Union Council further noted that the aforementioned reasons for suspension are allegations until they are proven right in the Congress meeting.

The congress meeting is to be convened after the three-month suspension elapses.

Meanwhile, deputy chairman of the youth union, Mr. Deng Chok Yai, has been endorsed to act in the absence of the chairperson, who is serving his punishment.

Efforts to reach the spokesperson in the office of the State Youth Union Chairperson for comments were unsuccessful by press time.
