First Lady Mary Ayen Mayardit has donated three minibuses to Northern Bahr El Ghazal State’s Ministry of General Education.
The buses were driven from Juba to Aweil and handed over to the Ministry in fulfillment of a pledge the first lady made recently.
Mr. Santino Bol Akot Nguel, the director general in the state ministry of education, confirmed receipt of the buses.
The buses were received with pleasure and thanksgiving from the staff.
According to Mr. Bol, the buses will be used for three main purposes.
“One is being labeled for inspection or supervision in the schools across the state; the other will be used for collecting exams in the centers during the national examination as well as taking the invigilators and security personnel during the exams. The other will be used by the staff of the ministry,” Bol explained.
The Education Ministry in NBGs and the country at large has been facing a number of issues, including a lack of proper pay for teachers, which is making teaching ineffective.
