The hospitalized Matayo Kenyi is said to have been shot by one of the soldiers stationed, since 2020, in Pager Hills of Luwala Boma in Lo’bonok.

South Sudan’s Vice President for Economic Cluster, Dr. James Wani Igga, visited the wounded head chief while in a hospital bed.

“The Chief is in a stable situation and under control, and no serious risks have been reported by the doctors,” a statement from Igga’s office, reads in part.

Earlier reports this week indicated that Chief Kenyi was allegedly shot around 7:00 p.m. CAT, on Tuesday evening.

“The culprit came to the chief’s residence several times during the day with various demands for money, alcohol, food, and other basic needs,” the statement from the VP’s office added.

During his visit to the hospital, VP Igga assured that the government and military headquarters would take serious steps to bring the perpetrator to justice.
