Righteous living is healthy

By Chol Peter Majoh

Habitual righteous living, the consistent, daily and constant practice of doing the right things, even at whatever cost.

In simple, be a man or a woman; a lady or a gentleman of virtuousness. I urge you, just please strive to do it; And likely, you shall find rest. Make it your habit to be honest and just in your thoughts and deeds. This brings healing to your mind. “Fear the LORD and depart from evil: It shall be health to thy navel and marrow to thy bones.”(Proverbs 3:7-8).

It makes people healthy if the right things are done often. Trust Me, it’s a master secret behind every restful life and personal peace of mind. Against right doing, elsewhere, everywhere, nothing Evil can ever prevail.

In your job, at the workplace, in school, or in the church, wherever you are situated, practice sticking to what’s right and shun that evil: the likes of fraud, corruption, and any dishonest act, shun it and you will never hate yourself again.

Rather, you will always come to a point where, “My life is a blessing to me and others” Believe Me, your life shall never be the same. Your conscience will be clear, and you will surely live a guilt-free and sin-free life. Neither restlessness nor guilt and fear shall come into it.

The Much Evil we practice, the bitter our spirits groan in fear, the fear of if it’s later discovered. Dishonesty seems sweeter before it’s done and bitter aftermath. In the end, if committed, dishonesty results in one’s reputation being damaged, guilt and self-loath then follow.

Many people who practiced unrighteousness or were not upright in their doing died miserably, just because their hearts eventually came to condemn them continuously. They lived in terrible self-guilt. This made them die young. It’s sad! We can’t let this eat up our society again.

In South Sudan today, many are dying the same or like death. Most of today’s deaths result from self-loath and self-guilt.

Likewise, because of no adherence to basic rules of righteousness, many people are daily yielding up their lives to diseases like heart attack, high Blood pressure, etc. Our today’s society is being eaten up by unrighteousness, and unwillingness to adhere to God’s moral standard, the Ten Commandments.

Next to that, all these hardships we are going through are the results of our departure from rights, and from God. The fact that we are divided along our ethnicities, to be honest, is because we have slipped from the truth that we are one people, one Nation, created and brought together to live in this land known as South Sudan.

Besides, the drought, wars and other catastrophes such as floods and many others are a sign that God is tired of our stubbornness and failure to adhere to unity and righteousness, thus he brings judgment upon ourselves and our Land.

As to the Israelites, the Lord said to us, “And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.” (Exodus 15:26).

Not only that but He further also said, “Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy Kin, and the flocks of thy sheep.” (Deuteronomy 28:4).

In the opposite end, Had Israelites not heeded God’s instructions, the above blessings would turn into curse.

Today, those blessings are possible, and we can claim them just under the condition that we adhere to right.

If we make it our purpose to do rights, nothing shall prevent, us from prosperity. We can reach or go ahead of the other countries which seem far developed to us.

My dictionary defines righteousness as a quality or state of being free from sin and guilt. What a healthy life this brings! Do we need it? we have to make a purposeful life our daily routine. Doing right in the mornings, in the afternoons, and evenings; Doing at home, at our offices, in the churches, and everywhere, then peace and joy must come to dwell with us now and forever.

Every year we waste money on medication. This is true, for many of us, millions of dollars are wasted flying overseas for treatment just because we have failed to live righteously. That’s it! It’s scary, but it’s a fact.

To maintain this money for development and not medication, we just need to:  “Fear the LORD, and depart from evil: It shall be health to thy navel and marrow to your bones.”(Proverbs 3:7-8)

Let’s, each one of us, make it a choice of purpose a right doing.
