Police arrests Rumbek East murder suspect

Lakes State authorities have arrested a suspect identified as Poth Akuelyol for killing a young man named Sabit in Wun-yar cattle camp on Monday.

The incident occurred in Rumbek East County.

According to police the armed suspect went to the cattle camp and found the victim seated, he then told the victim that he was going to shoot him, and he shot him without any reason. The suspect is currently in Custody.

Police spokesperson in Lakes State, Major, Elijah Mabo said the victim’s relatives attempted to rush him to a medical center, but the victim died from the wound he sustained.

The suspect and the deceased were from the same section of Gony but under different clans with different chiefs.

Major Elijah, appealed to the local community to persuade the armed youth to hand over their rifles peacefully as the possession of arms becomes dangerous.

He urged those with firearms to surrender their guns to the government to maintain peace and advised anyone with access to the young men with arms to advise them to hand over the rifles peacefully.
