Hospital limits visitation hours

By Hou Akot Hou

Aweil Civil Hospital administration has restricted the hours for relatives and friends who wish to visit patients at the facility.

The measure was taken in a bid to minimize issues of thief that have been noted lately.

According to the Hospital authorities, some individuals disguise themselves to visit patients in wards but are later discovered with stolen items.

Hospital Director Dr. Santino Jan Tong told this outlet on Monday instead of showing compassion and empathy to the patients, some steal in the wards.

“The gatekeepers or watchmen allowed them, but later on they ran away with the patients’ items,” he said.

“This phenomenon has been seen twice when able-bodied young men ran away with the items of the patients, including phones,” he continued.

Tong further mentioned that they are now going to employ different strategies for monitoring the patients.

“We will be allowing one caregiver, and if the patient is brought by the cyclist or driver from the outskirts while in an emergency, we will allow them to stay outside the gate, and just one caregiver is allowed,” he lamented.

It remains to be seen how the new measures will be executed and be effective in monitoring the patients’ lives in the wards.
