Northern Bahr El Ghazal State (NBGs) governor, Tong Aken Ngor, sacked the Secretary General of the state government.
Mr. Albino Akol Akol was fired in a gubernatorial order read over state media on Monday night.
After stripping Akol of his clerical roles, the governor immediately appointed Mr. Bona Bol Biar as the new Secretary General of the state government.
The changes were welcomed by some youths who couldn’t hide their excitement but took to their social media handles to issue statements expressing their opinions.
Though no reason has been given by Governor Tong for axing the SG, Mr. Akol, some residents, mostly youth, say it is a good development.
One of the youths who declined to identify himself said the new Secretary General is a youth who is going to discharge his administrative duties very well.
“The young lad is a graduate, and it is in our hope that he will deliver substantially well,” he stated.
But a tea seller in Aweil has no hope that the new person will bring changes to the government.
The firing of the Secretary General of NBGs coincided with the presidential decrees in Juba that unfolded on the same Monday evening, in which the president fired the top leadership of the Central Bank and the boss of the National Revenue Authority.
