Police in Northern Bahr El Ghazal state of South Sudan are probing the case of a woman who was found dead at the Ayuang residential area in Aweil town, on Tuesday afternoon.

The corpse of the unidentified woman was found by residents of the area, and they alerted the police.

Lakes state police spokesperson, Capt. Guot Guot Akol said after the police were informed, the body of the deceased was collected and taken to the Aweil State Hospital for a postmortem. It was later discovered that the deceased had a skull injury.

He said that they are cooperating with everyone who has information to ensure that the cause of the woman’s death is ascertained.

“We want to cooperate with anyone who has pieces of information, especially the residents in that area and the security forces so that we first know who the deceased is,” said Capt. Guot Guot.

“After knowing the person who is dead, we will find out who has been living with her so that the late allies can tell us information that brought about her death,” he continued.

The police spokesperson stated that since the late woman was not identified, the authorities decided to bury her at the public cemetery at Nyalath Payam in Aweil Centre County.

Mr. Gout Guot appeals to the public to always tip them off about any crime-related development to help them find culprits easily.
