Northern Bahr El Ghazal State (NBGs) governor has pledged SSP 2,000,000 to the University of Northern Bahr Ghazel Student Association.

Governor, Tong Aken Ngor made the pledge during celebration of academic achievements of members of the students Association.

Students hailing from Aweil and studying at Upper Nile University held a colourful occasion on Saturday at Nyakuron Cultural Centre to recognize the leadership of the students.

In his remarks, governor, Tong applauded the graduates for their efforts, commitment, and determination to complete their studies duly.

The governor also informed the students about the ongoing projects that his administration is pursing with painstaking approaches to ensure that they are implemented.

He underscored the operationalization of Northern Bahr El Ghazal University, which he said is operational, and encouraged the students from the state to strive for their aspirations in their studies.

Tong promised to donate 2,000,000 (two million) SSP to the Upper Nile University’s students’ leadership to enable them to meet their needs and implement their activities.

One of the graduates, Dut Deng Mou, expressed his happiness for the governor’s pledge, saying the donation will support them as other students are also faced with challenges such as tuition fees.

“I am glad to have heard about the donation. This support is so helpful, and someone may think it is short-lived. It has something that will change the lives of the students, as most of us in the university hail from Aweil, which is quite far,” said Deng.

He maintains that the leadership of Mr. Deng Thalang Ayaga, who heads the student association, will ensure that the money is received and used effectively.

The graduation ceremony was held under the theme “Education is the key to success”.

It was highly attended by officials who hail from NBGs and other invited guests, among others.
