Council of Ministers approved $1,241,751 to allow South Sudan team to participate in East African Community Games second edition.

South Sudan’s Minister of Youth and Sport presented the plan for the country’s participation in the games due November in Kigali, Rwanda.

Minister, Dr. Albino Bol Dhieu emphasized the need for funds to support the team.

Minister of Information, Micheal Makuei, said the participation of South Sudan is crucial for showcasing skills and exposure of the country to the EAC members.

“Participating in these games means exposing the people of South Sudan so that they are known also by the Africans and by the world that we are here with our own abilities,” Makuei expressed.

An estimate of a budget for the games is $1,241,751, to cover a population of over 100 people to participate in various fields and the management committee.

The Minister of Finance and Planning is directed to avail these funds for this team accordingly.

The first East African Community Games were conducted in Bujumbura, Burundi, in 2018, but South Sudan did not partake.
