Two ARC staff dead in crash

A Land Cruiser pickup vehicle belonging to the Africa Resource Corporation (ARC) Company crashed dead two of the company’s employees at Akon in Gogrial West County, Warrap State.

The incident occurred on Monday, October 30, 2023.

According to eyewitness accounts, the vehicle collided with a motorbike that was carrying five ARC workers who were returning to their base at Abeet, bordering Aweil South County, while returning from the market in Milow town.

Garang Santos, one of the eyewitnesses and employees at the company, told this outlet that the car was coming from Wau town when it had a head-on collision with the motorbike carrying five staff.

Unfortunately, two of the five people aboard the vehicle died on the spot as the motorcycle collided with the vehicle, and the other three are nursing serious injuries.

Garang said the car was being driven by a human resources officer, who is now being remanded in police custody pending investigations.

The deceased were identified as Pioth and Lual and the three who kissed death from the accident, among which one badly injured was rushed to Juba.

“The bad news happened on Monday evening. Pioth and the other deceased, called Lual, passed on immediately. It is a mysterious incident,” he said.

“The human resource officer was returning from Wau when he met these colleagues on the highway and crashed into them. The two men (Pioth and Lual) died immediately, and the other two have serious injuries, with another sustaining a minor one,” he added.

ARC has been undertaking the construction of the Juba-Bor-Malakal highway connecting the upper Nile region to the capital, Juba.
