President Salva Kiir has fired the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Gen. Majak Akec Malok in a Republican Decree read on state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Cooperation (SSBC).
In another Decree, Kiir also promoted Lt Gen. Atem Marol Biar to the rank of General and delegated him with the role of new Inspector General of Police.
No reason was given for Gen. Akec’s firing.
Gen. Majak was appointed in 2018 replacing Saeed Chawul Lom.
