At least six people are being detained in Rum-tiit Boma, Aweil town of Northern Bahr El Ghazal State after discovering remains of a dead person.

The area administrator, Dut Garang Dau, said the six suspects were in police custody to help establish the cause of the death.

The deceased is believed to have died or killed for about a month or two but was not identified earlier.

Garang called for the state authorities to investigate the case and appealed to the calmness and humility of the people of Aweil to prevent such incidents.

He said the six suspects are being held in police custody due to their proximity to the site where the deceased’s remains were found.

Rum-tiit is a suburb in Aweil Town, known for its arable land and agricultural activities.

The rise in cases of killings has been attributed to economic hardships, forcing some residents to act out of desperation, as they see no future.
