IGP arrives Aweil

Inspector General of Police, General Atem Marol Biar, in Northern Bahr El Ghazal as part of his countrywide tour to assess the work of the police force.

He stated that he and his team wanted to familiarize themselves with the situation on the ground to ensure the police are performing effectively.

“It is part of my plan to visit the police forces across the country to know the status and situation of the forces I am commanding” the IGP stated.

While in Aweil, he met with state authorities to understand their conditions.

He also mentioned that there is a plan in the pipeline to train police forces to protect local lives and property.

Marol also mentioned that the clampdown on criminals started in Juba in 2023 and aimed to maintain law and order in the states.

For his part, Governor Tong Aken Ngor acknowledged the efforts made by the police forces during Christmas and New Year’s Eve, labeling it as a peaceful festival without much-reported problems.

He appealed to police personnel to maintain cordial behavior and respect for civilians they are entitled to protect.
