By Hou Akot Hou

South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) has replaced the Division 3 commander in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State.

General Angon Ungom Chut was named the new commander, replacing General Akuei Ajou who has been there since 2021.

Speaking during the handover, the former Commander emphasized the importance of maintaining the army during the dry season to prevent unrest from Sudanese militants.

“I would like to ask your upcoming leadership to feed the army as some of the stores are getting empty. Kindly work with the SSPDF leadership so that this army is fed properly and should never be foot soldiers who can’t deter any aggression,” Gen. Akuei said.

He also urged the upcoming leadership to feed the army properly and ensure vehicles are in good maintenance.

For his part, Gen. Ungom pledged to collaborate with the army to uphold good faith and maintain constant communication with local civilians regarding developments in remote areas.

He vowed to work tirelessly with local civilians to keep them informed about the border situation.

General Ungom further said he will maintain close collaboration with SSPDF leadership to ensure the army’s readiness to serve and protect the civil population.

He will be based in Wunyiik, Northern Bahr el Ghazal State.
