The unconditional love of God

By Abraham Anyon Ngoor

In the world we live in today, where love has grown cold, it has only acted on the platform of convenience, need, and pretense. Love as a weapon for the end-time harvest must be emphasized as Christians, and if not adopted, we may perpetually live below our potential as a people called by God the Almighty to live out his character on earth and subdue nations with his attributes.

There is a heaven-sent kind of love that has been embedded in us as Christians and is eternal, which is in a Greek rendering called Agape.

I believe every Christian has witnessed or experienced it at one time or another.

The Agape love of God, which is the unconditional love of God, has been given to every child of God; every born-again child of God experiences it daily.

There are other different types of love that rule and determine the way we live daily, as humans do today.

Erose, which is in our day called erotic love; this is the kind of love that is prevalent today with the youth of our generation; it talks of fleshly desires, sexual desires to be specific; this kind of love has promoted fornication, adultery, pornography, and all sorts of things that contribute to the satisfaction of fleshly desires.

It has tainted the fabric of our communities with prostitution. Our nation now, as South Sudanese, has been cluttered with what I call undercover prostitution or pretense prostitution. No one of us may accept this, but it’s high time we wake up as a people and live right for the salvation of our souls.

Galatians 5:19 says

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

So as believers in Christ Jesus, we must avoid this kind of love manifesting in our very lives since the end of it is death.

Storge, which is the love of parents towards their children, is another unique one of its own.

Psalm 103:13

“As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.” The Good News: Fathers, nurture your children with compassion so they do not come to be afraid of you.

This kind of love must be embraced by every parent who wants to raise impactful children for the next generation, because not every parent in our family has value for his or her children. We wouldn’t have much rebellion today from children leaving home for the streets.

Again, we have another kind of love, which is called philia, which is love among friends and equals.

Proverbs 18:24 “A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”

This is a powerful love as well, loving your brethren extremely.

However, we must bear in mind that the Agape love of God exceeds all of them.

John3:16

16 God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

This was the manifestation of love in the first place. It has given us a platform to get saved. It accepts you the way you are. Receive Jesus and experience this kind of love today.

If you want to receive Jesus for the first time, say these words after me.

Say, ‘Lord Jesus, I accept and acknowledge you today as the Lord of my life; save my father; give me a new beginning in Jesus’ name; for the Bible says whosoever shall upon the name of the Lord shall be saved’

If you say these words, believe you are saved. Find a Bible-believing church for spiritual nourishment and growth.

Thanks.
