A good soldier for Jesus Christ

Abraham Anyon Ngoor Gorjok

Thou therefore endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life may please him who has chosen him to be a soldier.

And if any man also strives for masteries, he is not crowned unless he strives lawfully. 1 Timothy2:3-5

Every believer in Christ Jesus is a soldier for Jesus and his beloved kingdom. What a privilege! All nations and kingdoms of the world have soldiers. In the same way, we are called to be soldiers for the kingdom of God through Jesus, our savior. What is the purpose of the soldier? He is to defend and protect their country’s territory and the lives of the citizens from their enemies.

However, for us to defend and protect our country, we are told in the book of Timothy what we should do as the living soldiers of our Lord Jesus, the king of kings and the lord of lords. Verse one starts by saying that we must endure hardness as good soldiers of Jesus Christ.

There are hard things to endure as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. Just like any soldier in any country, you must get rid of pleasures to accomplish certain tasks. Most of the soldiers are denied so many pleasures, and some soldiers are not in a position to stay with their families for Christ. In the Kingdom of God, we are told to endure all the difficulties we face daily, especially persecution. We are to be very strong in making sure we embrace the place of strength because with it we shall weather the storms of life.

There are many insults we endure daily for the sake of Jesus’ name; many have reached the extent of being slaughtered for the sake of the gospel of our Lord Jesus. Most of the soldiers in the Bible were killed because they preached the gospel of our King Jesus, but bless God, the gospel went around the world until it reached us today. The gospel is the power of God unto salvation. You can’t stop the gospel from spreading because the Lord, our commander, is always behind us.

As a good soldier, we must not entangle ourselves in the affairs of this life; we must stay sanctified always to wage good warfare because our adversary seeks whom he may destroy daily; therefore, we must embrace the place of purity. The devil seeks a loophole that he can destroy, and the easiest loophole is sin, for he knows the wages of sin are death. Purity must be our highest priority otherwise; the devil will use us as his playground continuously.

We must strive to please him always, and the only way is by walking in purity as good soldiers of our Lord Jesus Christ.

In this kingdom, we must ride on certain laws of the kingdom in order to fulfill our destiny as champions and generals in his army. Do you want to master the affairs of the kingdom of God? Remember these powerful current laws, which are his guiding principles, to navigate your way successfully in life.

In the book of Deuteronomy, chapter 28:1, it says, And it shall come to pass if thou shall hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth.

You and I must be diligent in obeying the voice of God to be enthroned above all nations of the earth. It is the topmost in the world we live in and can only be accessed by those who adhere to his principles.

Soldiers listen and act as commanded. Any successful army in any country is full of meekness in doing what is commanded by their commanders. These soldiers who act accordingly to accomplish tasks given to them end up as champions. Perhaps the reason we are still lagging in disseminating the gospel is that we are not listening and acting according to the command of our commander, Jesus Christ.

As a soldier of Jesus Christ, you must embrace the place of enduring and the place of obedience to be rewarded and be a champion in the affairs of life. Authority is fully entrusted to obedient soldiers; therefore, let us be obedient to the laws given to us to accomplish our task maximally.

Prophetic Confessions.

As a living soldier of our Lord Jesus Christ, I will live to endure hardness. As a good soldier of our Lord Jesus Christ, I will not bow to the pressures of life; I will preach the word of God with intensity. The purpose of my life will be fulfilled in you forever more, and my peers and generations after me will witness the mark I will leave behind for the glory of God in Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen!

Prayer of Salvation.

If you want to receive Jesus Christ as the Lord of your life, say these words after me:

Lord Jesus I accept you as lord of my life from today on, and I acknowledge the price paid by your precious son, Jesus Christ. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation. I am born again in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen!

If you prayed this prayer with all your heart, we believe you are saved, but find a Bible-believing church and grow in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
