Governor Rin eulogizes predecessor

Lakes State governor, Rin Tueny Mabor paid tribute to his predecessor, who passed on, due to natural cause.

Matur Chut Dhuol breathed his last on January 23, 2024, in Juba.

Governor Rin described late Dhuol as a staunch liberator and a leader, who served the people with distinction during his tenure as the governor of Lakes State.

“Gen. Matur Chut Dhuol was appointed Governor of Lakes State in 2013 and Governor of Western Lakes State in 2017, respectively, and led his people with distinction and honour,” Governor Rin said, in a statement.

He pledged that Lakes State government will join hands with Dhuol’s family to ensure that he is accorded a dignified and respectful burial as a patriot and a veteran.

“The Lakes State government, together with the family of Gen. Matur Chut, will work together to ensure that he is accorded the befitting departure of a patriot and a veteran that he truly is,” he continued.

Many citizens issued their reactions on social media upon Dhuol’s death on Tuesday.

“Gen. Matur Chut was a dedicated liberator and freedom fighter whose legacy shall continue to reign for generations. His departure is a great loss. My deepest condolences to the people of Lakes State. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” Nyol M. Biong, one of the social media commentators said.

John Agued, another social media ardent described the deceased governor as a liberator who deserves appreciation and praise, and his legacy and heroism will be a luminary for generations.

“I was deeply saddened when I heard of General Matur Chot’s passing to the afterlife. He was a freedom fighter who deserves appreciation and praise. His legacy and heroism will remain prevalent for many generations to come,” said Agued.

According to Radio Tamazuj, Dhuol, in October 2015, was hospitalized and underwent chest surgery, described as minor and successful.

However, the cause of his demise is not yet clear. The details of his burial are yet to be communicated by the family.
