Central Bank Governor vows to complete Aweil Branch

Central Bank Governor Dr. James Alic Garang has pledged to finish construction of the bank’s Aweil branch during a recent visit.

“I’m here to see the progress,” Garang told media. “The wall is complete, but we need to furnish the interior and plan an official opening.”

He committed to sending a team from Juba within the next month to assess the remaining work.

“We will send a team to furnish and put the final touches on the building within the next month.” He stated. “We need to plan for a functional launch.”

Garang also urged the state governor to ensure investing in agriculture to combat poverty.

For his part Northern Bahr el Ghazal State Governor, Tong Aken Ngor highlighted that the Aweil Rice Scheme as a national agriculture project needing funding.

“We have Aweil Rice Scheme which is a national project and it needs the national government to do something” he stated.

“As it needs at least funding to solve more problems in the country. I hope you would take these reports when you return to Juba” Aken told the Central Bank governor.

Garang’s visit is part of his tour of South Sudan to assess bank and financial matters.
