South Sudan Clearing Agents and Freight Forwarders Association (SSCAFFA) steering committee officially assumed office in Juba, on Tuesday.
This came after SSCAFFA General Assembly on January 27 endorsed the vote of no confidence against its National Chairman, Mr. Deng Deng Geng, for failing to follow the rules of the association.
The General Assembly accused Mr. Geng of not holding elections for nearly seven years.
The general assembly then elects the steering committee, which took the oath last week with the responsibility of arranging the national association’s general election within 90 days.
The former secretary of finance, Cosmas Taban Abure handed over the official stamp and documents.
“We are handing over to my colleague, who is taking over. So, for any guidance that you may need from me, please visit us; I’m always available,” Abure said.
He said they would continue to cooperate with the new leadership to build a strong association.
“We shall cooperate as we continue to see the fraternity grow bigger and bigger,” he added.
Meanwhile, Mawa Moses, the chairman of the steering committee appreciated the former leadership that has been at the helm for almost six years, adding that change is necessary for smooth operation.
“The steering committee that was ushered in on the first of February and chaired by me is looking forward to conducting elections in the interval of 90 days,” Agumi said.
“And this is the reason that we need to receive the office in peace so that we can continue in peace,” he added.
He pledged to take all required steps to ensure that free, fair, and peaceful elections were held on schedule.
The steering committee has been headed by Mawa Agumi as chairman and deputized by Ajing Mabior Ajank, including former national association’s Secretary General Jacob Kuol Pareng, who was sworn in as the committee’s secretary general.
