Trader arrested for illegal gun deal

A Sudanese trader is in custody at Gokmachar police station of Aweil North County Northern Bahr El Ghazal over illegal arms deal.

A client, allegedly accidentally shot himself with a pistol he bought from to the Sudanese illegal gun dealer.

The client, identified as Bol Malueth, sustained injuries to his thigh on Sunday while trying to test functionality of the pistol purchased from the trader.

According to Majok Deng Akuacdit, Secretary-General of the joint border committee, Malueth did not realize the pistol was loaded at the time of purchase.

“Mr. Malueth injured himself with a pistol as he tried to test it,” explained Akuacdit.

The incident reportedly occurred at Kiir-kang-bek, a border area where trade and transactions between Sudanese and South Sudanese citizens frequently take place.

Akuacdit confirmed that the victim of the trade deal was rushed for medical attention.

“He was rushed to Gokmachar for treatment, and the suspect, a Sudanese national, is being held by the police. He will face charges for illegal weapons sales.” He noted.

Akuacdit urged the public to avoid such illegal transactions with foreigners, highlighting their contribution to crime within the region.
