One person was killed, and seven others were injured in a road accident on Thursday evening in Awerial County, Lakes State.
Lakes State Police Spokesperson Major Elijah Mabor Makuac, confirmed the incident to No.1 Citizen Daily Newspaper yesterday.
He said that a commercial vehicle travelling from Juba to Cueibet County lost control and overturned near Guolyar around 8:00 pm, resulting in the death of one passenger and injuries to seven others.
Major Makuac further stated that the injured individuals were transported to Yirol Hospital for medical treatment, while the driver was remanded in Guolyar.
“Preliminary investigations suggest that the vehicle was about to overturn, causing eight passengers to fall out,” he explained.
“One person died as a result, and seven others sustained serious injuries.”
The police spokesperson concluded by saying, the driver is currently under detention in Guolyar, and a full investigation into the accident is ongoing.
