Northern Bahr El Gazal state on Monday launched a three-year development plan.
The move is part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda to help in a technical capacity with the development of plans, resilience, and national and state-level economy.
In an exclusive Interview with this outlet on Wednesday, the Minister of Information, Zechariah Garang Lual disclosed that the development plan will help the stakeholders on how they could intervene in the crises that the local population are faced with.
The minister said that Strategic Development encompasses a lot of priorities which they foresee are wanting.
“We have a lot of priorities which we have prioritized and most of the things we talked about include food security, health, Education, Water and Sanitation, Roads, Public Financial Management, Disaster Preparedness, Resilience and social protection,” Garang said.
He said that the state government will mobilize resources through revenues in collaboration with other stakeholders.
Garang added that it requires commitment from the authorities to give quality services for the welfare of the state’s citizens.
During the launch, Governor Tong Aken Ngor lauded the support that UN agencies such as UNDP and other agencies that they partnering with have been rendering.
“AS we are launching this state Development 6 months toward the end, I request UNDP to avail funds to start a new strategic Development plan. Therefore, I declare that the State development plan is officially launched,” he announced.
