Northern Bahr el Ghazal State intellectuals are appealing to the state leadership to convene an intra-community dialogue to address the political, social and economic challenges facing the region.

Northern Bahr el Ghazal is one of the states considered to be peaceful.

Executive Director of Aweil Researchers & Academics Forum (ARAF), Dr. Yach Garang James made the urge during a ceremony set to honour the people who obtained masters & PhD degrees to Northern Bahr el Ghazal State sons and Daughters.

“Despite the peacefulness synonymous with Aweil I as a member of this community would like to call for Intra Aweil Community Dialogue in order to strategize on how to face political, social and cultural, economic, food insecurity and border issues facing us,” he said.

Dr. Yach appeals that the peace dialogue must be led by elders, political leaders irrespective of the alliance and chiefs.

He disclosed that ARAF will volunteer to facilitate.

In response, the Northern Bahr El Ghazal State Governor Tong Akeen Ngor appreciated the appeal made to convene the community dialogue but didn’t accept or reject the call.
