By: Kei Emmanuel Duku

Following Munuki and Rainbow FCs’ loss on Tuesday evening, Malakia FC Juba has been crowned the 2023/2024 Champion of the Juba Local Football League.

Malakia FC secured the needed results to clichéd the title on Monday evening after a goalless draw over traditional rivals Al-Hilal FC.

With the draw against Al-Hilal FC, Malakai FC took their point tally to 50 out of 22 matches with two games to go.

Both Munuki FC and Rainbow FC went into the game against Viva Stars and El-Merriekh FC respectively knowing that any win for either side would blow the title race open.

However, both of them failed to secure the maximum points as Munuki FC lost to fourth place to Viva Stars FC by 3:4.

Meanwhile, Rainbow FC failed to close the gap to Table leaders Malakia FC after they surrendered two early goals to El-Merriekh FC Juba to lose the game 3:2.

Munuki FC who is second on the log and Rainbow FC in the third spot all have 41 Points out of 22 and 23 games so far played respectively and are separated by goal difference and they will have to play each other this Friday.

Before the defeat to Viva Stars FC, Munuki FC had gone 7 matches unbeaten winning against Gudele FC, Atlabara FC, and Al Rabita FC among others.

Mathematically it means even if Malakia FC goes ahead to drop points in their next two games and Munuki FC wins over second-place Rainbow and Kator FC on the last day, they will have 47 points out of 24 matches adrift with two points.

The remaining fixtures for Malakia FC include playing against Al-Merriekh FC this Friday before closing the season with Amarat FC on 3/04/2024.
