Northern Bahr El Ghazal State governor, Tong Aken Ngor cautions traders in Aweil Town against exploiting poor citizens.

He warned traders against unreasonable increase of commodities prices due to the rising dollar rates.

Ngor urged the traders to refrain from taking advantage of the depreciation of the South Sudanese pound against the US dollar and to ensure that they do not exploit the local population.

“I would like to appeal to the traders in the state and beyond not to take advantage of the rise of dollars on the destitute” he stated. “Kindly make proper decisions on how you could sell consumer goods at affordable prices so that our local citizens can survive.”

He spoke at an Easter Sunday service at St. George Catholic Church.

The governor who recently returned to Aweil after visiting Juba highlighted that he had witnessed in Juba how people are surviving in tough living conditions.

Ngor assured that he would work hard to ensure that the local population is rescued from the current economic situation.

He started meeting traders to work out measures to reduce other essential goods that could be found within the reach of the local population.

Governor Ngor noted that he had assured the president that that security was normal and that they would work collaboratively with the International Partners to seek avenues of aiding the population including the returning groups from Sudan.
