Police in Yirol West County, Lakes State are holding a Ugandan man in connection with the death of a 12-year-old girl at a clinic in Yirol Town.
Lakes State police spokesperson, Maj. Elijah Mabor Makuac confirmed the incident and provided details.
“We received initial reports of a 12-year-old girl who died in a clinic at Yirol Civil Hospital during an injection procedure,” said Maj. Makuac
“Following the girl’s death, the police took legal measures by arresting the Ugandan man who administered the injection. The investigation is ongoing” he continued.
According to Makuac, the deceased’s body has been sent for a postmortem examination and they are awaiting the medical results from Yirol Hospital to determine the cause of death.
The police spokesperson stated that this is one of a few cases they have recorded during the Easter holidays.
Maj. Makuac added that they are still investigating and will communicate any additional unreported incidents as they come to light.
