Two arrested over killing

Authorities in Lakes State have arrested two young men in connection with the death of a young man in Rumbek Central County hospital.

Lakes State police spokesperson, Maj. Elijah Mabor Makuac explained the incidents.

“An unidentified group of people beat a young man with a stick in Waar-wade, Rumbek Central County, on Sunday. Despite being rushed to the hospital; he unfortunately died that night from his wounds” he narrated.

Maj. Makuac stated that three suspects were initially detained.

“The investigation is ongoing to determine which of them the perpetrator was. Unfortunately, the victim was unconscious upon arrival at the hospital and could not explain the cause of the fight” he lamented.

The police spokesperson noted that whether the scuffle was as a result of a random attack, or a personal dispute remains unclear adding that the investigation will hopefully shed light on this.

Second Beating Incident reported.

Meanwhile, Maj. Makuac reported another similar incident in Yirol West County, Lakes State.

He stated that another beating tragedy occurred on the same day in Aram-baai area, Yirol West County.

“An unidentified person was beaten and taken to the hospital. However, before he could undergo an X-ray examination, his relatives withdrew him and sought treatment from a traditional healer. Tragically, the victim passed away” Maj. Makuac narrated.

According to him, police took legal measures, by sending the body for a postmortem examination adding that the suspect in this case has also been arrested.

“The investigation is ongoing, and we await the official cause of death from the Yirol Hospital medical team,” the police spokesperson stated.

“Our personnel on the ground haven’t been able to determine the reason behind the conflict that led to the beating,” Major Makuac concluded.

“These details will be pursued during the investigation, and we will provide updates as they become available.”
