Muslims affirm support for Kiir’s election bid

President Salva Kiir Mayardit has received backing from Muslim Community in the country, ahead of anticipated elections scheduled for December, this year.

Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) has officially endorsed President Kiir as their sole candidate for the upcoming election.

During a recent visit of Islamic leaders, Vice President Hussein Abdelbagi Akol, who also heads the Service Cluster, highlighted Kiir’s commitment to religious freedom.

According to him, President Kiir’s dedication to fostering an environment of peace and harmony allowed Muslim community to celebrate Eid el-Fitr without any disruptions.

As a result, the Muslim faithful have expressed their readiness to vote for President Kiir as the Head of State in the upcoming general elections, according to the statement from the Office of the President.

President Kiir, in turn, extended warm wishes and conveyed messages of goodwill to the Muslim community during the Eid el-Fitr celebrations. He called for forgiveness and emphasized the importance of unity among all South Sudanese citizens.

Furthermore, in a special message letter addressed to the South Sudanese Muslim community, President Kiir congratulated Muslims across the country and abroad.

He urged South Sudanese worldwide to demonstrate sympathy and concern for the suffering people of South Sudan, fostering a sense of compassion and unity during the festive occasion.

President Kiir’s had a firm stance against extending the Transitional Government beyond its designated term.

As upcoming general elections loom, the endorsement and support from the Muslim community serve as a significant boost to President Kiir’s candidacy.

President Kiir’s track record in promoting freedom of worship and fostering an environment of peace and stability will likely resonate with voters from all backgrounds.
