A young woman has been detained in connection with death of a 41-year-old man in Bar-nyiwich village, Nyalath payam, Aweil Center County, in Northern Bahr El Ghazal state.

The incident occurred when the suspect allegedly kicked the man in the abdomen during an altercation over accusations of infidelity.

According to Sally Tong, a police officer in the area, the suspect delivered a defensive kick to the man’s abdomen after he accused her of having an affair with another young man and she rejected his advances.

Madhel Uguak, a relative of the deceased, explained that the man was taken to the hospital for treatment after suffering a swollen bladder as a result of the attack. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away.

The case is currently under investigation, with authorities probing the circumstances surrounding the fight, including whether it was related to adultery or rejection by the woman.

Madhel appeals to the deceased’s relatives to refrain from seeking revenge while the investigation is ongoing.

Medical professionals in Aweil have confirmed that tests conducted on the deceased revealed a swollen bladder with evidence of pus, and surgical procedures were performed in an attempt to address the condition.

The director of Aweil Hospital confirmed that the man ultimately passed away due to complications arising from the bladder injury.

“The abdomen was swollen so the doctors took him for operation as pus accumulated and he was in critical condition till he died on Saturday evening,“ he added.

Incidents of domestic violence like this one are regrettably common in the state, prompting human rights experts to warn against violating the freedoms and rights of individuals.
