A 30-year-old man in Yirol East County of Lakes state, committed suicide after a dispute with his stepmother over cattle ownership.
Lakes State Police Spokesperson, Major Elijah Mabor Makuac said the victim, identified as Meen Wundit Achinran shot himself in Kuei cattle camp and the owner of the ill-fated rifle has been arrested.
According to police report, the rifle owner and Achinran’s stepmother were arrested as potential suspects for investigation in legal procedure.
Makuac highlighted the negligence of the rifle owner for leaving the weapon unsecured.
“These armed youth are keeping cattle. He just abandoned his rifle somewhere without knowing it that somebody will come and pick it up” the police spokesperson narrated.
In another separate incident, a 23-year-old man in Yirol West County attempted suicide by hanging himself inside his house.
Family members discovered the young man in time and rushed him to Mapuordit Hospital for treatment.
His motive of attempting to commit suicide remains unknown, as he is still in critical condition.
