By Kei Emmanuel Duku.

Management of Al-Merriekh FC Bentiu has appointed Ramsey Sebit Lumori, former Munuki and Amarat United coach, as the club’s head coach, effective April 26, 2024, for one year.

Before his appointment, Coach Ramsey Sebit guided Kator FC, popularly known as the “Loberas,” to the top four of Juba Local Football Association league.

This will be his second return to Al-Merreiekh FC in a space of one and a half years, having taken charge of the team in 2022 before resigning unexpectedly.

Al-Merriekh FC is currently camping in Juba ahead of the release of the 2023–24 South Sudan National League fixtures by the South Sudan Football Governing Body, SSFA.

In February this year, Al-Merriekh FC lost in the finals of the 12th edition of the South Sudan Cup in penalty shootouts to Jamus FC Juba.

With vast experience in both managing club football and the senior national team, Sebit’s immediate priority with Al-Merriekh FC Bentiu is to assemble the squad with huge experience and try to win the South Sudan National League and represent the country in the CAF Champion League later this year.

Al-Merriekh FC finished the 2023/2024 campaign ahead of Bentiu City SC in the Bentiu local league with 59 points out of 21 matches played.

Some of the clubs he managed include Malakia FC, Simba FC, and Al-Rabbita FC, among others.

He also took charge of Al-Nasir FC Juba in their Madan appearances in the CAF Confederation Cup against Azam FC of Tanzania before losing both ties.

While with the national team, Sebit was in charge of the South Sudan senior team, the Bright Stars, on an interim basis against Mali and Gabon between 2018 and 2019, but unfortunately, he lost all the games.
