Police investigates dead body found in Yei River

Police in Yei River County, Central Equatoria State are investigating death of an unidentified man, whose body was found in a river, on Sunday evening.

The body found in a shallow part of Yei River, was retrieved and transported to Yei Civil Hospital for examination.

Yei River County Chief Police Inspector, Hussein Daud Jano calls for public help in identifying the deceased man, whose remains were found rotting in the river.

“We are urging the public to come forward if they recognize the clothing or any other details about the deceased man” Jano appealed.

The body was badly decomposed with a foul odor, making identification difficult.

According to preliminary findings the man was described as wearing red pants, a black vest, and a long-sleeved black shirt.

Police initial investigations noted the presence of head injuries and a larger build.

The discovery of the body has caused shock in the Yei community and Police are still investigating the exact cause of death and searching for potential suspects.
