Juba to host regional Youth Parliament conference

By Gladys Fred Kole

East African Community Youth Parliament Speaker, Rt. Hon. Savior Tombe unveils a plan for a regional youth conference in Juba, for the eight partner states.

Tombe said the conference would bring together youth from across the East African region.

“We aim to host the South Sudan high-level youth forum here in Juba, uniting developmental partners, private sector representatives, and government leaders. This will serve to raise awareness about our integration agenda,” the speaker stated.

Tombe’s announcement coincided with a meeting between a delegation from the East African Youth Network—South Sudan chapter, part of the youth lobby and advocacy working groups, and Governor Emmanuel Adil.

During the meeting, the youth advocacy group affirmed their readiness to champion youth agendas at the regional level, emphasizing the importance of cross-border advocacy within the East African community.

“We are seeking support from development partners and the private sector, as outlined in the East African community youth policy, which stresses the need for their involvement in youth programs across partner states,” Tombe explained.

He further highlighted ongoing discussions among regional youth leaders in Juba aimed at formulating a unified agenda for East African youth under the guidance of President Salva Kiir Mayardit.

On his part, Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony expressed his support for the youth initiative, commending their dedication and encouraging them to continue amplifying youth voices to drive empowerment and participation at the regional level.
