Machar submits officers’ list for unification

By Charles K Mark

First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny on Friday submitted a list of officers to be confirmed and deployed into the country’s security organs.

The Transitional Security Arrangement mandates unification and deployment of various forces into the military, National Security Service, and National Police Services.

According to a statement by SPLA-IO spokesperson Col. Lam Paul Gabriel, Dr. Machar also submitted names of officers to be confirmed in the different organs.

He noted that during the meeting, Dr. Riek reiterated the importance of deploying the Second Echelon Commands and the graduated Unified Forces (NUF).

“The SPLA-IO remains committed to the full implementation of the Transitional Security Arrangements,” he said.

However, some of these forces are still in training centres as they await the commencement of the second phase.

During their meeting, the two principals agreed that the second training of the Unified Forces would begin within the next two weeks, according to the office of the President.
