Northern Bahr El Ghazal Governor Tong Akeen Ngor assured the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) of their preparedness to mobilize support and secure votes.
This came up during a meeting met with SPLM Secretary-General Peter Lam on Tuesday to discuss the state’s readiness for the upcoming elections in December 2024.
The meeting also focused on the implementation of SPLM policies and securing the votes of the electorate without any doubts or reservations.
Governor Ngor emphasized his administration’s readiness to bring on board all members of the SPLM leagues, from the state to the county, payam, and boma levels, according to the governor’s office.
This effort is aimed at ensuring that citizens are fully aware of their voting rights.
The visit came shortly after President Salva Kiir was endorsed by the Greater Equatorial leaders and their supporters as the flag bearer of the party.
Ngor vowed that no one will be disenfranchised in voting for the SPLM candidate, and that they are more than prepared to outperform other parties on the ground when the elections come.
In response, Peter Lam, the SPLM Secretary-General, assured the visiting SPLM delegation, led by Governor Tong, of the secretariat’s open policy to support the states through cooperation.
This is to ensure that the commitment, discipline, and order within the SPLM are upheld in all the party’s institutions across the states and administrative areas, despite the challenges they may face.
The governor’s entourage included Stephen Ayaga Azuber, the NBG state’s SPLM Secretary, Information Minister Zecharia Garang Lual, and Johk Lual, the Deputy SPLM Director for Training and Mobilization and Advisor for Peace and Security, Mr. Joseph Akok Aleu.
