Central Bank modifies 1,000 SSP note

Central Bank of South Sudan has announced it is introducing a modified 1,000 SSP notes.

According to a statement seen by this outlet, the introduction of the modified 1,000 SSP notes is in line with the Banking Act of 2012 and the amended Central Bank of South Sudan Act of 2023.

Bank governor, Dr. James Alic Garang said the new banknotes have the same principal characteristics as the previously issued 1,000 SSP notes, with the only change being the wording from “South Sudanese Pound” to “South Sudan Pound.”

“The Bank of South Sudan informs the public that it has issued more note series of one thousand South Sudan Pounds (SSP 1,000),” the statement read.

Governor Alic directed all financial and non-financial agencies to comply with the order with immediate effect for operationalization.

Finally, the bank of South Sudan urges all financial and non-financial institutions to take note of the same notice, attached, please find the specimen for the new series of bank note SSP 1000,” Alic concluded.
