Kiir calls for unity, support for the needy

In his Eid al Adha message, President Salva Kiir Mayardit called on the Muslim community to demonstrate gratitude to God and promote unity.

The President’s message was delivered through the South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation over the weekend, ahead of the Eid Al Adha celebrations.

Referencing the Islamic Holy Scriptures, President Kiir highlighted that the act of sacrifice is a true gesture of gratitude to the Almighty God, Allah.

“It is an expression of thankfulness for God’s blessings, and the spirit of Eid Al Adha emphasizes the willingness and ability of the faithful to share,” Kiir said.

Eid Al Adha is a sacred festival in which Muslims commemorate the willingness of the Prophet Abraham to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God.

In his message, the President called for the manifestation of the spirit of fraternity, peace, harmony, and compassion towards those in most need.

This sentiment echoes the President’s message during the recent Eid El Fitr celebrations, where he urged for compassion and charity towards those struggling with the country’s economic challenges.

“On behalf of the government and my family, I extend warmest wishes to our Muslim brothers and sisters,” Kiir said in his Eid al-Fitr message.

Throughout his addresses, the Head of State has consistently emphasized the importance of praying for peace and forgiveness in the country.
