African Union’s Peace and Security Council applauded South Sudan’s leadership for improved peace and stability across the country.
According to Presidential press unit, the AU delegation on Wednesday held a meeting with President Salva Kiir at state house, J1.
“The African Union peace and Security Council has praised South Sudan’s leadership for making great progress toward maintaining the country’s peace and stability,” partly reads the Press statement.
In a joint press conference, Uganda’s permanent representative to AU, Rebecca Amuge Otengo, who is optimistic about the young nation is future said “the AU thinks that, with the ongoing efforts, long term peace and stability can be reached in the country.”
The visiting AU delegation, urged all the parties to the agreement to embrace peace for brighter future.
AU group further underscored that the importance of international community’s support in addressing challenges facing East Africa’s youngest country.
Besides, the group underlined the need of communication and inclusivity in the political process and teamwork in peace treaties.
While, the minister of Cabinet Affairs, Martin Elia Lomuro appreciated the African Union delegation for their unwavering support to Juba administration to achieving peace and security.
