A woman in Twic County, Warrap State, was robbed and assaulted by three unknown assailants. The victim, Ayel Mawein Ajak, a resident of Anapkou village, recounted the harrowing ordeal.
According to Abdalla Deng Mou, the police inspector in Twic, the robbers approached the woman’s house at night, claiming to be thirsty and requesting water.
Feeling sympathetic, the woman went out to provide them with water. However, the situation quickly escalated, as one of the men snatched her phone and fled, while another struck her in the mouth with a gun, causing her to lose one of her front teeth.
“I tried to run after them and reached one of the men from a distance away from the homestead and caught one of the men and asked him to call the men who took my phone. On hearing that, he hit me in the mouth with a gun, and I fell down and found myself bleeding profusely,” the victim recounted.
“I cried till the neighbor and people and my household members came and took me home and realized that I lost my tooth and they were nowhere to be seen,” said Ayuen.
The Police acknowledged the prevalence of such robbery cases in the area and urged residents to be vigilant, especially at night, and to avoid responding to strangers’ requests.
Inspector Mou assured that the authorities would do their utmost to apprehend the culprits and bring them to justice.
The incident has left the community shaken, with the victim suffering both physical and emotional trauma.
Residents in Twic County are appealing for increased security measures and community awareness campaigns to prevent such crimes from occurring in the future.
