By No. 1 Citizen

More than 1,000 personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of South Sudan’s National Police Service have begun an in-service refresher training program in Juba.

The training initiative is part of a broader effort by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Gen. Atem Marol Biar to transform the national police force and align it with international standards of law enforcement.

He has directed the participating CID officers to fully cooperate with their instructors throughout the course.

The refresher training covers a wide range of topics, including investigation techniques, evidence collection, report writing, and court procedures.

It is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of the CID personnel, enabling them to more effectively carry out their duties in serving the public.

Last week over 1000 police officers also graduated in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State after completing a six-month refresher training. A similar number has also graduated in Western Bahr el Ghazal.

The initiative is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to professionalize the National Police Service and rebuild public trust in the nation’s law enforcement institutions following years of conflict and instability.
