Central Equatoria governor has formed State Flood Mitigation Taskforce and Public Transport Drivers Union steering committees.
Gen. Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani, on Friday, issued gubernatorial orders for the formation of the two committees.
One committee is aimed at mitigating challenges resulting from flooding while the other, to address issues of driver’s unions in the state.
Central Equatoria State deputy governor, Sarah Nene, chairs the Flood Mitigation taskforce while the State Ministry of Local Government, and Law Enforcement Agency as the vice chairperson.
Other ministers of the state, directors, advisors, Relief and Rehabilitation Commission chairperson and security representatives are among members of the task force.
In a press statement seen by this outlet, the flood mitigation committee will formulate its budget to support the activities of the task force, create awareness, identify the citizens of the flood-affected areas, identify NGOs to support the flood victims.
The Public Transport Drivers’ Union steering committee, is chaired by Mr. Justine Victor Wani, who is also chairperson of CES Workers Trade Union.
It is tasked to prepare for the General Assembly meeting and elect a new leadership for the Drivers Union within a period of 21 days.
The committee is also tasked to open the offices of the Public Transport Drivers Union and render its reports to the office of the Central Equatoria State governor, within a period of 21 days.
According to the statement, the implementation of the two orders comes into force with immediate effect and the committees render their regular reports to Central Equatoria State governor.
