By Deng Ghai Deng

The Central Equatoria State Governor Gen. Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani met with Jonglei State Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Matiop Lueth Atem on Wednesday.

The meeting, held in Juba, focused on improving bilateral relations and addressing pressing issues concerning internally displaced persons (IDPs).

During the meeting, Atem provided Governor Jadalla with an update on efforts by Jonglei State Governor H.E. Mahjoub Biel Turuk to repatriate IDPs currently residing in Mangalla Payam, Central Equatoria State.

These IDPs are being moved back to their homes in Jonglei State as part of an ongoing initiative to restore stability and support affected communities.

Governor Jadalla expressed appreciation for Atem’s visit and the work being done by Jonglei’s leadership.

He committed to supporting the repatriation process and ensuring that it proceeds smoothly.

“Governor urged the Jonglei State government to address the issue of cattle herders that move and encroach to people’s farms in the State destroying crops, preventing farmers from cultivation and causing insecurity,” the statement from the office of the governor reads.

In addition to discussing IDP repatriation, Governor Jadalla highlighted concerns about the impact of cattle herders from Jonglei State on local agriculture in Central Equatoria.

He urged the Jonglei State government to take measures to prevent herders from encroaching on farmland, which has led to crop destruction and heightened insecurity for local farmers.

The discussions between the two leaders mark a positive development in addressing inter-state issues and fostering cooperation in South Sudan.
