All we wanted is a name; the win is a just bonus

Throughout all these games, I have learned that our people are willing to come together again. And Luol Deng has not only done that but he has made it possible for the whole world to know the good part of the story of a country that has been known, in its 13 years of existence, for a number of things. You know them all.

We are amazing and we have a president who relives his officials whenever he is happy or sometimes when he is annoyed. If we had won against the U.S.A, our president would have sacked some of the ministers that are not doing well in his government to celebrate the win.

This is the only way he can convince the people that he is happy because no one can ever believe him. The citizens don’t trust him and he equally doesn’t trust them. If there is someone who talks with President Kiir, they should tell him that we want him to act like the Basketball Team.

The whole team is a combination of all the 64 tribes and if I am not mistaken, none of them is a relative to Luol. They are just for South Sudan and they were selected on competence. They are not playing for their families or for fun, they are playing for South Sudan and that is why they are doing well. I want you to tell our president that we are proud and always be because of them. He should do the same thing, where he appoints and disappoints the same men.

Tell him that there is no country for a tribe and if he is truly happy with the team, he should pay all the civil servants in dollars with the money that he uses for his international trips. This is to remind ourselves that we were about to beat the U.S.A if not for Lebron James. Tell the president that Lebron is an old man who played against little children who were born between 2000 and 2003 and he is a professional baller.

Let him know that the people of South Sudan have forgiven Lebron because we are happy. If he really appreciates how the boys have handled him, he should donate some of his money to build a basketball academy in South Sudan to train the next generation of basketball players. He has never faced such a team in his entire basketball career and what is so interesting is the fact that the team emerged from nowhere, challenging a team that has never been challenged in 50 years.  Even with an injury on his knee, Lebron decided to play because things were going to get messy without him. Next time, the boys will do better.

By the way, there is something our president should know. He is a very lucky man. He has been so successful for 13 years in making the country look bad. The team came in to make it look good just in a year.  [We] have forgiven the president and we will forgive him every day. We forgive him in the morning, evening and during the day. The people who forgive the president a lot are families who live on one meal per day and still wonder where the next meal would come from.

The whole country should put on the badge of forgiveness and wear it everyday. We should forgive men who grab lands that belong to the poor. The presidency should forgive the basketball team for doing good, making the rest of us, including the president, look bad.

Let’s forgive men, our millionaires, who carry bags of money from their places of work to their houses. Let’s forgive God for giving them the strength to carry such heavy bags of money.  Let’s forgive every man who thinks they are doing the right things when they are doing the worst.

Let’s forgive men who bought cars without first building the roads. Let us forgive those who think they can’t wait in the traffic because they are driving fancy cars. And finally, the president should forgive and go. He should carry some money with him because it is very important but he must leave all his cars and security and go with only a few people. He must be very fast because the day the people have been waiting for is the day he will finally go to Konyokonyo market to see the prices of goods. He must walk from shop to shop and when he is done, he should go back to his office and think about where this country has gone to and how people manage without salaries. When he is done with everything and if he still finds it hard how he should help the country, he should know that he has been forgiven but he should think again and every day. Peace.
