Leadership as God Intended: Your Attitudes Determine People’s Response to You (Proverbs 17:11) NKJV‬‬

By Very Rev Nathaniel Garang Aduotdiit

“An evil man seeks only rebellion; therefore a cruel messenger will be sent against him.”

Paul the apostle wisely admonished the Galatian churches as regards the way God and people will treat them as concerns their attitude and beliefs, and he told them, “Do not be deceived; God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.” (Galatians 6:7-8) NKJV.

Many sons and daughters do not take careful consideration on how to deal with God or how to deal with people. When it comes to things, we either have not understood or things that have seemingly upset us. Some people, rather than composing themselves and perhaps considering the bigger perspective of things first, simply delve into rebellion, coercion, and quarrelling. The trio are a clear sign of corruption. Solomon, therefore, says a rebellious attitude attracts a cruel, rough, and tough messenger to handle you. At his old age, right at the close of his leadership tenure, King David pulls some eminent challenge the poor attitude brings against a person or leader; he says, “The sons of rebellion shall all be as thorns thrust away because they cannot be taken with hands. But the man who touches them must be armed with iron and the shaft of a spear, and they shall be utterly burned with fire in their place.” (II Samuel 23:6-7) NKJV.

So, in conclusion, one’s attitudes play a crucial role in shaping people’s responses. Positive attitudes generally elicit favourable responses, fostering better communication and relationships. Conversely, negative attitudes can lead to misunderstandings, conflict, and strained interactions. People are often responsive to the way others present themselves, and attitudes can influence perceptions, trust, and overall impressions. A positive attitude, characterized by empathy, respect, and optimism, tends to attract cooperation and goodwill, while a negative attitude may repel others and hinder effective communication. Ultimately, the attitudes we project significantly impact the dynamics of our relationships and interactions with those around us and God. God bless you.
