South Sudan prepares to host Continental Football

By Kei Emmanuel Duku

South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) is in high gear preparing to host a series of high-profile continental football matches.

A committee has been formed to oversee the organization of the CAF Confederation Cup, Champions League, and 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

Jamus FC Juba and Al-Merriekh FC Beutiu will represent the country in the Confederation Cup and Champions League respectively, with both clubs set to face Stadia de Tunis in Juba on August 16th and 18th.

South Sudan will also host South Africa in a 2025 AFCON qualifier at Juba National Stadium in September.

Due to the ongoing conflict in Sudan, Juba will also serve as a host city for Sudanese clubs participating in continental competitions. This includes the Sudanese national team’s AFCON qualifier against Niger.

The committee, headed by Mujahid Ali Mohomed and his deputy Simon Peter Bichok, will oversee all match preparations.

Other members include SSFA General Secretary Victor Lawerance Lual, Jal Peter Roaj, and Alfred Mark.

SSFA President Gen. Augustino Madout Parek emphasized the committee’s role in ensuring the highest standards of football are maintained during the upcoming matches.

The formation of the committee aligns with the organization’s statutes, specifically Article 55.

Mujahid Ali Mohomed has already initiated meetings with the committee and plans to hold discussions with the management of Jamus FC and Al-Merriekh FC Beutiu to outline preparations for their respective matches.
